English 10 Topic: Nominate Movies

Names. Pick a movie related to Crime/Punisment and explain why it would be a good one to watch as a class. It must be rated PG-13 or lower or be mild 'R', and it must be available on DVD. If we watch your movie selection, there will be a writing assignment for the whole class to go with it, after watching it. A good source for ideas about movies is IMDB.com. An IMDB search also yields a page of links to crime related movies. You should also spend some time familiarizing yourself with the other nominations from your class Period 3 or Period 8, as we will nominate and vote from these.

Senior Seminar Topic: Nominate Movies

Nominate Movies. Pick a movie related to Literary movements and explain why it would be a good one to watch as a class. It may either be about a literary movement or representative artist (like Pollock), or an example of the movement style (Nightmare Before Christmas -- surrealism). It must also be rated PG-13 or lower or be a mild 'R' and be available on DVD. A good source for ideas about movies is IMDB.com. An IMDB keyword search also yields a page of links to related movies, as for surrealism. Any 20th century literary movement is OK, but surrealism (focusing on creativity and the unconscious mind) is probably a good focus on since there are a lot of good related movies, like Vanilla Sky or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. We will probably watch two movies before semester end, one next week before break (has to be non-'R') and one as part of the finals activity.

You should also spend some time familiarizing yourself with the other nominations from Period 4 and Period 5, as we will nominate and vote from these.
