Daily Writing Topic: Tolerance

Tolerance. National Tolerance Week (Dec. 1 - 7) ends today. The preceding link is an editorial that talks about why tolerance is important and why this "holiday" should be more widely observed. Some possibilities for writing about tolerance: Describe an incident that illustrates the significance of tolerance. What things do you have no tolerance for? An experience where your tolerance was tested? Which things can you tolerate, but only with effort? Have you ever suffered from someone else's intolerance? To what extent should teachers tolerate "unacceaptable" behavior? Parents? How do you feel about zero tolerance policies, like some schools have adopted towards weapons, guns, etc. Do you know of any examples of good or bad effects from “zero tolerance.” What could be done to promote tolerance, to make people more tolerant? In democratic society, how important is tolerance?
