10 Steps To A Successful Relationship - 1 March 2005
1. Keep your interest at a distance, where perfection can still be retained.
(if this fails, continue with the following steps.)
2. Acknowledge that it will not last.
(this step is the most important. See: consequence of deception.)
3. Enjoy the time you spend together: no matter the circumstances.
4. Do not become jealous: remember it will not last.
5. Accept them for the person they are.
6. Never be serious.
7. Only involve yourself with attractive people.
8.
9. Avoid outings that involve money.
(if impossible, insure that it is not your money to be spent.)
10. Do not fall in love.

Consequence of Deception: If Step Two is not met, then all other steps will be void. You will continue to fake them, but at night you will cry yourself to sleep. This will eventually lead to painful addictions and loss of sleep.
Truth of Love: The love experienced would more rightly be referred to as lust, which can die more quickly than one revolution of the earth upon its axis. And if love is the case, you will always assume they are manufactured feelings; finding all of the initial cute idiosyncrasies and teaching yourself to hate them. This will lead to the most painful of consequences: the realization of true feelings after you have ruined all possibilities of relinquishing what was once had.

Do you really think that a relationship can't last, or only that it's best to approach a relationship with this attitude in mind? Interesting idea to make something last by thinking it can't, but it makes sense in a way. I'm not sure the very last line says what you want it to. Relinquising means giving up, and I think you mean something more like saving or holding on to.. Still, you've made an interesting response from this topic.
